Pá.ú.lú is a Brazilian-born visual artist based in the UK, working primarily with assemblage, mixed media, and found objects. His practice is informed by Brazilian Carnival traditions, particularly the visual language and symbolic structures of samba schools, which he reinterprets through a critical and contemporary lens.

Drawing on personal experiences of migration, belonging, and cultural displacement, Paulo’s work explores themes of memory, decay, and resilience. He favours materials with a lived-in quality—discarded, weathered, or overlooked objects—allowing their material histories to remain visible and active within the work. This approach reflects an ongoing interest in transformation: how cultural symbols, identities, and materials are reshaped over time and across geographies.

Alongside his studio practice, Paulo has developed research-led and community-based projects, published artist-designed board games, and exhibited in gallery, community, and interdisciplinary contexts. His work often involves collaboration with cultural institutions and mass participation groups, bridging visual art, cultural research, and collective making.
